‘2B or not to be…that is the distortion’…..is an exhibition of works that transform reality, inviting the audience to interpret the artist’s world, leaving the viewer to construct the meaning. For art and distortion, the purpose is not to depict reality but rather create something new, interesting and meaningful.
The material and conceptual transformation can begin with a 2B pencil with the artist making choices of materials and revealing intentions through a journey of practice. The role of the artist is a significant one in a contemporary society that is constantly evolving. The artist interprets the world and then slowly transmutes it, each stage becoming a snapshot of ever-changing realities, until the artwork comes to fruition. These artworks are a representation of personal transformations - the distorted reflections of the world, self and identities.
